Everywhere I turn someone is coughing, sneezing, or talking about being sick. I don't know about you but we don't have time to be sick in this house! I finally am taking some vacation time and intend to spend every second with my hubby and son. I NEED ALL THE ENERGY I CAN GET!
I was listening to the radio the other day and the disc jockey was asking who likes/dislikes the flu shot (let's save that topic for another day) Then said he was going to share a tip from doctors to help prevent the cold and flu, which got me to thinking. Our family hasn't been sick all of 2014! I did have some allergy symptoms this Spring but besides that, we've been as healthy as can be. My 10 month old has yet to be sick...WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTE BLESSING! Most moms I know with children around my son's age have experienced that first sickness. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it will be when that day comes and I know it will happen at some point, but I'm doing everything in my power to prevent it for as long as I can...ESPECIALLY over this Christmas and New Year! It's our 1st!
I was anticipating what the disc jockey was going to say and waited eagerly for this "magic" advice. Want to know what it is? A HUG. He said that hugs make us naturally feel better and has something to do with us psychologically as well.
While I love hugs...and think you should give them daily, let me give you all some additional advice as to how to prevent a cold and the flu. TREAT YOUR BODIES RIGHT! It really is that simple.
My hubby and I do a few simple things every day that keep us healthy and strong.
1. Exercise. We exercise, daily. Anyone can make time for a 30 minute workout. Yes, ANYONE. I'm a full-time working mom and own my own health & fitness business. If I can do it, SO CAN YOU.
2. Drink Shakeology. It has 70+ natural super foods, nutrients, and pro-biotics that keep our systems running at optimal levels! It's even replaced our daily vitamins.
3. Drink lots of water. Water is essential and helps cleanse our bodies, naturally. You should drink at least eight 8oz glasses of water every day.
4. Wash your hands, often. This seems so obvious but I am always shocked to see people leave a restroom without washing their hands.
5. Eat healthy unprocessed foods 90% of the time. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy things that aren't veggies, fruits, and protein. It means you should eat this way 90% of the time. The other 10%, enjoy!
6. Take 1 tbsp of fish oil, daily. It is good for you for SO many reason! Carlson's is our favorite (we like both orange and lemon). If you've never tried it, it's really not that bad and so worth it.
I hope you all stay safe and healthy throughout the holiday season and enjoy the remainder of 2014!
